Ready to give your BMW a finishing touch every time you open the door? Our BMW HD LED Door Projectors bring your chosen design to the ground beside your car. Before choosing your logo, there is one detail to get right: the projector size.

Our BMW door projectors come in two fitment sizes: Short 50mm and Long 70mm. Choose the version that matches your BMW’s existing door light, using your chassis code and our compatibility guide to help confirm the fit.

What is the difference between Short and Long BMW door projectors?

The size option refers to the physical light unit that fits into your door. It is separate from the logo you choose. Selecting an M240i, M3 or M Performance design does not automatically tell you which housing your car needs.

Size option Fitment size Examples from our guide
Short 50mm F40 1 Series, G42 2 Series, G20/G21 3 Series, G80 M3 and G82 M4
Long 70mm F20/F21 1 Series, F22/F23 2 Series, F30/F31 3 Series, F80 M3 and F82 M4

Vehicle specifications can vary with production date and factory equipment. Treat these examples as a starting point and compare the size and connection of your original light before ordering.

Why your BMW’s chassis code matters

A model badge can appear on more than one generation of BMW, and those generations may use different door lights. This is why ordering by the badge alone can lead to choosing the wrong size.

  • M240i: our guide lists the F22 Coupé as Long 70mm and the G42 Coupé as Short 50mm.
  • M2: the F87 M2 and M2 Competition are listed as Long 70mm; the G87 M2 is listed as Short 50mm.
  • M3: the F80 is listed as Long 70mm; the G80 Saloon and G81 Touring are listed as Short 50mm.
  • M4: the F82/F83 are listed as Long 70mm; the G82/G83 are listed as Short 50mm.

Do not assume every F-series BMW uses Long projectors or every G-series BMW uses Short projectors. For example, the F40 is listed under Short, while several G-series SUVs are listed under Long.

How to check your existing BMW door light

  1. Identify your car. Note its model, year and chassis code, including whether it is an LCI model where relevant.
  2. Check the light beneath the door. Compare your existing unit with the product photographs.
  3. Check the dimensions and connection. If you can safely access the unit, measure it and compare its housing, connector and retaining features. Send us a photo beside a ruler if the measurement is unclear.
  4. Confirm each door you plan to upgrade. If buying for front and rear doors, check the existing lights in both positions.
  5. Select your size and design. Once fitment is confirmed, choose Short or Long and your preferred projected logo.

If your BMW has no existing door light, contact us before ordering so we can check whether these replacement units are suitable for your vehicle.
