A door logo that once looked sharp can become disappointing, but a faint or distorted image does not always mean the projector has failed. Start by separating the viewing conditions from a persistent problem with the light itself.
The key point: Compare the projection on a clean, flat surface in low ambient light, then inspect the outside of the lens. Dirt, surface texture and bright surroundings can affect the image; persistent patches or damage need closer assessment.

Inspect and gently clean the external lens
Road dirt, dust and residue can interfere with the light leaving the unit. With the lamp cool, clean the accessible external surface using a soft cloth and a method suitable for the product.
Do not use abrasive pads, polish the lens or spray solvent into the housing. If the unit appears cracked, loose or internally damp, photograph it and request advice rather than opening it.
Consider changes inside an older projector
Some image-forming components can deteriorate with age or heat, depending on their construction. Repeated missing sections, discolouration or permanent patches may point to an internal problem, but the appearance alone does not identify the exact cause.
A photograph on two different surfaces is more useful than one heavily exposed night shot. Tell us whether the change happened suddenly or gradually and whether both sides behave the same way.
