LED door projectors can give your car a distinctive welcome every time you open the door. Before choosing a logo, though, you need to establish whether your vehicle has the right light fitting. A model appearing in a compatibility list is only the starting point.
The key point: A replacement door projector needs a compatible powered light position, matching housing and suitable electrical connection. A reflector or blanking cover alone does not confirm that a replacement projector will work.

Start with the lights on your own car
Open the door and look along its underside or lower door card for the existing courtesy light. Identify whether you have a working lamp, an unlit reflector or a blank panel. A light in the wing mirror is a different fitting, even if it illuminates the same patch of ground.
Not every door on a vehicle necessarily has the same equipment. Check each position you intend to upgrade, including the rear doors. If you cannot identify the fitting, send us a clear photograph before removing anything.
Replacement and retrofit are different jobs
A replacement changes an existing powered lamp for a compatible projector. A retrofit adds lighting to a position that does not already have the necessary equipment. The second job may require wiring, suitable mounting parts and vehicle configuration.
Do not assume a projector pair includes a retrofit wiring kit. For Volkswagen applications, we list a separate retrofit wiring product; suitability still needs checking for the particular vehicle and door.
Measure the housing and compare the connector
Check the overall length and width of the existing lamp against the product dimensions and photographs. The retaining clip, housing profile and connector matter as well. Matching a visible lens alone is not enough.
For BMW, start with our existing 50mm or 70mm guide, then compare your actual lamp. Avoid choosing from the badge on the boot alone: the same model name can span different generations.

Read the exclusions, not just the headline
Check chassis code, production year, body style and any exclusions on the product page. For example, the Volkswagen projector listing excludes Golf Mk8 2022–2025, while the Mercedes listing has body-style exclusions.
A broad product title does not override these details. If a photograph, measurement or fitment note does not match your vehicle, ask us to check it before ordering.
What to send us for a fitment check
Tell us your make, model, year and chassis code if known. Add the door position, photographs of the lamp and connector where safely accessible, and measurements. Mention aftermarket door cards, changed mirrors or previous lighting work.
This lets us help with the actual fitting rather than relying on assumptions about standard equipment. Once compatibility is established, you can choose the design and quantity with confidence.

Frequently asked questions
Will a projector fit if my car only has a reflector?
A reflector does not provide electrical power. A retrofit assessment is needed before you choose a replacement light.
Are all door projectors the same size?
No. Housing dimensions, clips and connectors differ between applications.
Can I order using my registration alone?
Registration details help identify the car, but photographs and measurements may still be needed to confirm the fitted equipment.
