Two Volkswagens can have similar-looking panels in the lower door yet need very different work to add logo lights. The important distinction is whether there is already a powered lamp or simply a reflector or plastic cover.

The key point: Our Volkswagen HD LED door projectors replace compatible existing powered light units. A reflector-only position needs a separate retrofit assessment. Retrofit wiring is listed separately and is not implied by buying the projector pair.

How to recognise a replacement application

Identify the existing door light, confirm how it operates and compare the body and connector against the projector listing. A compatible powered lamp position provides a starting point for a replacement.

If a lamp is present but does not work, that does not prove the supply is healthy. Establish why it is off before expecting a new projector to resolve the issue.

What changes with a retrofit?

A retrofit adds the equipment needed where the vehicle was not fitted with a suitable powered light. That can involve wiring, door access, appropriate mounting and vehicle configuration.

The work required depends on the door electronics and existing equipment. Do not assume that a matching opening means a connector is hidden behind the reflector, or that the same procedure applies to front and rear doors.

The projector pair and wiring kit are separate products

Our Volkswagen projector listing supplies the lights as a pair. We also offer a separate Volkswagen Door Projector Retrofit Wiring product, with front and rear options shown in its product images.

Before buying wiring, confirm the correct option and suitability for your vehicle. A wiring kit does not by itself confirm that every other part of a particular retrofit is already present.

Use the OEM references as comparison information

The VW projector listing references 1K0947411A, 3AD947411 and 1K0947411B. Compare these with the existing lamp where applicable, along with dimensions, the connector and the product photographs.

These references identify the intended replacement light application. They do not establish that an unlit plastic cover is a powered light or that retrofit wiring is included.

Check the Golf exclusions and door specification

The current product listing specifically excludes Golf Mk8 2022–2025. Always check the full vehicle list and restrictions rather than treating “2005 onwards” as a promise that every VW will fit.

Door equipment can vary, so check each position you intend to change. If the light or connector differs, contact us before ordering.

Ask for a fitment check before dismantling

Send your VW model, year, door position and photographs showing the existing lamp or reflector. Add the lamp part number and connector photograph if safely accessible.

We can help you distinguish the replacement product from a potential retrofit. For wiring and vehicle configuration work, use a competent installer with the correct vehicle-specific information.

Frequently asked questions

Are the retrofit wires included with the projector pair?

No. The retrofit wiring product is listed separately; confirm what your installation requires before purchase.

Do the front and rear doors necessarily use the same setup?

No. Check the equipment and wiring option for the particular door.

Will the VW projector fit a Golf Mk8?

The current listing excludes Golf Mk8 2022–2025. Ask us to check your exact vehicle rather than assuming fitment.
